Pierre Mourad, Ph.D.

Dr. Pierre Mourad joined ARPA-H as a Program Manager in January 2025. He is a professor at the University of Washington, with dual appointments in the Division of Engineering & Mathematics and the Department of Neurological Surgery. His expertise is at the intersection of physics, acoustics, and medicine. Mourad’s lab has focused on ultrasound-based medical devices with diagnostic, therapeutic, and pre-clinical applications.  

In addition to his academic work, Mourad has cofounded multiple companies, worked closely with physicians, and worked as a staff scientist at the Applied Physics Laboratory. He earned his doctorate in applied mathematics from the University of Washington and holds several patents. He is most interested in how physics can be applied to address medical needs for neurology and neurosurgery.
