Open Funding Opportunities
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) funds high-impact, innovative health research focused on solving complex challenges that can significantly improve health outcomes. Using diverse funding mechanisms, ARPA-H can address the critical challenges that traditional research and private industry cannot.
Below are the areas in which ARPA-H is currently soliciting research applications. You can also learn more about our research focus areas and access submission resources.
ARPA-H is committed to fair consideration of all proposals. We recognize the investment of time and resources in applications.
Programs
A Program is a collective set of research funded by ARPA-H that focuses on a specific problem or challenge that aligns with the agency’s wider research and development goals.
Program opportunities are announced as solicitations called Innovative Solution Openings (ISO), and are open for a limited time. New opportunities are announced throughout the year.
Available Program Opportunities:
Learn more about each program and access its solicitation through the links below.
Initiatives
Initiatives are special efforts designed to rapidly move from proposal to funded contracts. Unlike programs that are driven by a single goal, these targeted investments follow unique funding tracks across a range of topics.
Available Initiative opportunities:
There are currently no initiative openings.
Small Business Awards
Small business award opportunities are announced through Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) award. Opportunities focus on specific topics based on various ARPA-H needs and are open for a limited time.
Available Small Business Award Opportunities:
There are currently no SBIR/STTR openings. Openings are announced throughout the year, please check back regularly for new Small Business Award announcements.
Mission Office ISOs
Mission Office Innovative Solution Openings (ISO) provide a way to seek funds for individual research projects that fall outside the scope of an ARPA-H program or initiative, but that still aligns with an ARPA-H research focus areas.
Mission Office ISOs are accepted on a rolling basis. Before applying to a Mission Office ISO, you should do three things:
- Familiarize yourself with the ARPA-H research portfolio: Review all research in the ARPA-H Program Portfolio and Initiatives & Sprints to ensure your idea falls outside the scope of existing research. A submission to a Mission Office ISO may be rejected if its within the scope of an existing program or initiative.
- Review the solicitations: Read each of the four ISOs linked below to determine which research focus area is the best fit for your idea.
- Submit a Summary: If you determine your idea is a good fit, you must first submit a Solution Summary (additional guidance provided in the ISO). A Solution Summary is a brief description outlining the key features, goals, and the potential impact of a proposed solution or project. ARPA-H will provide a response on the viability of, and interest in, the concept based on this information.
Note: Summaries are required for all Mission Office ISOs submissions and proposers must receive written feedback from ARPA-H before submitting a full proposal. A proposal submission may be rejected if submitted without having received a response from ARPA-H.
Available Mission Office ISO Opportunities:
