For Patients
Patient engagement opportunities and external resources
ARPA-H makes pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies with the goal of delivering better health outcomes in years, not decades. We measure success in lives saved, and need insights and support from patient communities to ensure we develop solutions that work in the real world. Health breakthroughs should not be designed around people — they should be designed with people. This agency brings together communities that do not always sit at the same table, including patients, scientists, clinicians, engineers, entrepreneurs, regulators, payers, and care delivery partners.
Patient engagement
ARPA-H often designs mechanisms in its programs to ensue patient and caregiver perspectives are part of research and development process from the beginning, not after the technology has already been built. Programs Managers and research performers will connect with patients and advocacy groups directly to ensure the technologies we are developing meet the needs of the people who will use them. These opportunities will be advertised with the program.

Clinical Trials and External Resources
We recognize patients want breakthroughs now and want access to the latest trials and innovations. ARPA-H doesn’t own or operate its own research labs or clinical trials – rather, it oversees research that takes place at various facilities around the country. While the agency funds clinical trials, it is the research performer teams who conduct the trials and manage enrollment.
Actions you can take:
- If you are a patient seeking care, please reach out to your doctor to recommend appropriate clinical trial opportunities.
- Many patient advocacy groups have support, navigation and clinical trial tools and services. Please reach out directly to relevant organizations.
- You can explore clinicaltrials.gov for more information on open trials near you.
- When available, ARPA-H will link performer and clinical trial information from our program webpages.
Please do not reach out to ARPA-H staff directly about trial eligibility or for medical questions.
