ARIES: Autonomous Robotics and Imaging Ecosystem for Stroke

The team will develop an autonomous endovascular surgical system by integrating adapted designs of commercial components. These will include a robotic catheter drive platform, autonomy-optimized endovascular devices, and off-the-shelf fluoroscopic imaging. A purpose-built software layer adds autonomous operation while preserving compatibility with the non-autonomous product line. Navigation runs both physics- and reinforcement learning-based policies in parallel, informed by pre-operative path planning, continuous fluoroscopy-driven updates, and devices co-optimized for maneuverability and minimizing intra-operative device exchanges. By anchoring on a mature hardware base and world-class domain expertise, the effort positions endovascular care on a path toward better patient access.
