The UCSD team will develop a flexible, soft "growing robot" that extrudes through a patient's vasculature to safely reach the brain. Upon reaching the brain, the robot will autonomously perform neurointerventional procedures such as mechanical thrombectomy, which is a highly effective treatment for ischemic stroke.
