ACCELERATE advances research in brain biology with functional human brain tissue libraries using reversible cryostasis. The proposed technologies would overcome decades-long bottlenecks in recovering viable tissue after vitrification and accelerate discovery for neurological diseases. The project aims to identify the causes of brain diseases and to design and validate effective prevention, cures and treatments for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other neurodegenerative diseases; brain cancers; psychiatric, neurological, and developmental disorders; chronic pain, addiction, trauma, and stroke.
