The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) announced Neil Wyant as Director of the Office of Commercialization. Wyant brings experience from new venture formation, business development, and technology commercialization. He joins the agency most recently from the venture arm of University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland.
In his role as head of the ARPA-H Office of Commercialization, Wyant leads a team that supports Program Managers and awarded performers to achieve market readiness.
In order to succeed in the real world, ARPA-H programs must demonstrate not only technical feasibility but also commercial potential. Wyant will lead the agency’s Office of Commercialization with experience in venture capital, technology transfer, and business development. The office provides services directly to ARPA-H Program Managers and performers conducting ARPA-H funded research, including market intelligence reports, and mentorship around intellectual property, business models, and navigating regulatory and reimbursement pathways.
“I joined ARPA-H because I believe in the agency’s mission to bring breakthrough healthcare technology to fruition in years not decades,” said Wyant. “That task requires advanced science, smart stewardship of dollars, and a team with the business savvy to help guide products to market and adoption. My goal is to ensure our Program Managers and their innovative performers have the tools they need to support commercial success.”
Wyant has been involved in early-stage investment and commercialization for over 25 years. He has served on the board of multiple start-up companies where he advises on deal structuring, strategic partnering and commercialization. He has held C-level positions, founded his own firm, managed the venture arm of a single-family office, and built technology transfer offices at Argonne National Laboratory and University Hospitals. Wyant holds degrees in chemical and biomedical engineering from Northwestern University and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
